Discovery of wild edible and medicinal plants from our mountains

Take part in a 2-day practical course during which you will discover the secrets of wild plants.
Alpine sorrel, wild spinach, yarrow and wild thyme will no longer hold any secrets for you!
Enjoy two days in Beaufortain to learn how to recognize and use the wild edible and medicinal plants of our mountains. Louise, a mountain guide trained in ethnobotany, will guide you on the trails and for fruitful harvests that will be the basis of your meals! Wild picking and cooking, mountain walks are on the program.

Equipment to provide:
- For hikes: walking shoes, bottle of water (1 L minimum), picnic for the first day, sunscreen, cap or hat, sunglasses, clothing suitable for the weather, notebook, tape, backpack, harvest bags (craft paper or fabric bags), a magnifying glass (can be provided).
- For the kitchen: kitchen knife, cutting board.

Program

Saturday, July 5

Meet at 9am in Arêches.
We will carpool to the parking lot where the walk starts. As we hike and come across plants, we will learn about their history and their domestic uses: in cooking, for healing, in agriculture, etc. We will also do some wild picking.
At the end of the day, we will return to the lodge, located on a small isolated plateau, and we will do some wild cooking with the plants harvested during the day.
We will taste the dishes prepared around a friendly and joyful table!

Sunday, July 6

Breakfast at the chalet.
We set off again for a second day on the Beaufortain trails with the aim of continuing our discoveries of wild edible and medicinal plants.
Return to the cars around 16 p.m.

You will need to be able to hike on mountain trails, over a distance of around 8 km and 500 m of elevation gain.
The program is subject to change depending on weather conditions.
