As you enter the forest, you feel the coolness provided by the trees, which protect their branches from the harsh rays of the sun. A smell of resin indicates that spruces, emblematic Savoyard trees, make up a large part of this wood.
But you are not alone in taking shelter from the forest cover. Do you see on the ground these small green shrubs covered with small blue balls… but yes, they are blueberries! Bring them home, they are delicious in pies or jams. But we will quickly spot those who have been tempted to eat them on the spot... with their mouths smeared with purple!
You will also encounter Green Alders. Their wood was very useful for heating or for making Beaufort.
On leaving the forest, you enter the mountain pasture where the sheep graze. Then you will reach a scree, where you may be lucky enough to come across a chamois. Finally, having reached Pas d'Outray, enjoy a rare view of the Beaufort valley.

History, culture and heritage
During the month of August, you will find succulent blueberries on the course. You will cross a spruce forest then cross an alder grove: green alders are shrubs that once served as useful firewood for the production of Beaufort in the mountain pastures. You can admire the Hauteluce valley with its village and its bulbous bell tower. This route also crosses the territory of the chamois that you may be lucky enough to see.
