The Roselend dam supplies the La Bâthie power plant with those of La Gittaz and St Guérin. Located in the heart of the mountain pastures, not far from Mont Blanc, it is a very beautiful site for fishing and hiking. It is the 4th highest dam in France.

Built between 1955 and 1962, it represents 942m368 of concrete poured at a daily rate of 3 to 1500m2000. Weight vault type work with buttresses (height 3m, length 150m) Surface of the water body: 804 ha. Depth: 320m. Reservoir volume: 130 m187. 000 workers worked day and night on the site in very harsh conditions. The Chapelle Ste Marie Madeleine was rebuilt on the shore of the lake before the impoundment of the dam. The hamlet of Roselend was drowned on May 000, 3 and 2600 of the 6 mountain pastures were swallowed up. The Route des Grandes Alpes crosses this magnificent alpine site to reach the Tarentaise (excluding periods of snow-narrow road). This reserve constitutes a renewable energy reserve equivalent to 1960 million Kwh.

Please note that swimming and any independent water activity on Lake Roselend are strictly prohibited.
